London General opens new operating base
In November London General opened its new operating base in Mandela Way, off the Old Kent Road. The site has been used by London General for the last couple of years, principally as a Training Base, however it became an operational depot when Route 133 transferred from Stockwell Garage on 3rd November 2007. Route 133 will be joined on 16th February 08 by Route 453, a route recently won from another operator in the tendering process.
Mandela Way currently has 90 drivers, (increasing to 199 in February 08) with a fleet of 33 double deck Wrightbus Eclipses on Volvo chassis (WVL) (to be joined by 25 articulated Mercedes Citaros in February 08).
David Cutts, Operations Director, congratulated the staff at Mandela Way on the smooth introduction of Route 133, and wished new team every success for the future.
