About Us

Today London Central and London General operate over 1300 buses, employ over 3900 staff and operate from nine bases in the capital. The London companies operate in a regulated environment under contract to Transport for London (TfL), with contracts being awarded for 5 or 7 years via a rolling tendering programme.

London Central and London General provide nearly 15% of the London market, and account for approximately 260 million bus journeys annually on about 100 day and night routes. This figure is rising along with investment in infrastructure, bus priority measures and new buses. London Central runs 600 buses in southeast and central London from Bexleyheath, Camberwell, New Cross and Peckham garages. London General operates a fleet of 700 vehicles in southwest and central London from garages at Merton, Putney, Stockwell, Sutton and Waterloo.

Environmentally both fleets stay ahead of the current Euro 2 emission standards, even on older vehicles, and operate on ultra low sulphur diesel. These moves have had a marked effect on cutting emission levels in the crowded capital.
